Reports from South Korea has it that North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un, has made his first public appearance in 20 days amid rumours that he could be dead.
Kim was reported to have attended a project completion ceremony at a fertiliser factory in Sunchon, in South Pyongan Province, North Korea. This is according to Yonhap, a South Korean paper. However, this report has not been verified by Western intelligence agencies or media agencies as North Korea may be interested only in propagating information favouring the State
According to Yonhap, Kim Jong-Un’s sister – Kim Yo Jong, was at the ceremony but no pictures of the visit are available. Of course, such events should have pictures.
Kim’s health status has been a source of worry ever since it was reported he had surgery after presiding over an April 11 meeting.
On Friday, it was reported that a North Korean defector said Kim’s death could be announced by North Korea in a week.
It may not be surprising that a nation will so conceal the health status of its leader from the citizens. However, the practice remains worrisome. The public is still waiting for the final news of Kim’s health status.
